  • Possibility to use a negative year on the calendar.
This is in the pipeline, see feature request tracker on the SourceForge project page.

  • Linking to text (RTF/DOC/?) files outside of the chapters so I can use a word processor to write the book.
  • I'm gonna check whether there is a possibility to "telecontrol" open office. If so, we'll use this possibility to have links to a document where you can write your story.

  • Don't tinker with anything else, only add it for import/export within the cards.
  • This is done with release 2.1.6.

  • I miss not being a full word processor.
Not gonna happen in this life ;-) Actually I checked the possibility to integrate a third party Java word processor. But since there is no open source Java word processor, I don't see a chance for this feature. Sorry.

  • I would still like some sort of generic scene holding area. I often have ideas for scenes, but I don't know where in the storyline they will fit
A "notes" field for scenes is in schedule.

  • alias names (more than one!)
    Agreed, this would be useful.

  • Haven't seen a direct way to track changes. Maybe a way to make traceable archives of the storyline. I guess, with the ability to write concurrent story lines, it would be relatively easy to work versions side by side for differing ideas.
Well, having different story lines is possible by coping projects. However, you cannot see it in different windows at the same time. This is definitely not "relatively easy" but a very hard thing to do.

  • The spell check doesn't like possessives such as: "His uncle's pen." "Uncle's" is apparently not ok.
I'm not happy with the spell checker either. This is a third party module. The only thing I can do is updating it frequently. Since it is based on Wiktionary you're welcome to help making it better.

  • I am using the character feature to enter every character name, so I can be sure that I am consistent. Some characters may be only mentioned once or twice (sort of like extras on a movie screen, waitress, etc) I wish you could signify a main character.
"Grouping" characters is in schedule. You'll have "main characters", "normal characters" and "less important characters".

  • drag and drop for scenes
The view for managing chapters and scenes has drag and drop support.
